I would like to know if I had my criminal record sealed by the court would the company be able to see a sealed record? or will nothing show up at all?

Also, if the record is sealed does this still retain the arrest record? Meaning if I have a sealed record, and I have an arrest for theft, will the employer be able to put two and two together?

Okay, 13 years ago I got a ticket for shoplifting in Texas. It ended up being a Class C Misdemeanor. I never went to court I simply paid the ticket and the case was dismissed. I recently went to the court house and got my criminal record from the records department and nothing showed up because I never went to court for this Class C charge. I just got hired to be a teacher pending a background check. It is at a Catholic school and they don’t do fingerprint tests. I also did criminal background checks for two other schools when I had to do observations and field base. Nothing ever prevented me from going into those schools. I am worried that this will show up. I didn’t know if this was a crime of moral turpitude either? It was so long ago.

Also what is the difference between a conviction and an arrest? I am kind of confused.

I have “a friend” that did a dumb mistake by stealing something in target. This was her first time & she got arrested for it. When she got her finger prints back they were all clean & they released her that same day but gave her a paper to go to court in a month.

Will she have a bad record? A criminal Record? Or would she not get excepted to colleges? & what will happen to her at court?

I just want to know when an employer does a criminal records check, how far back to they usually look? Do they look in just the state for which you are applying, just the city, just the county, or is it nationwide? What are some of the crimes that most employers just will not accept.

I got caught shoplifting a while ago and it was a misdemeanor, and I just recently got interviewed for a job, and my court case is like 3 weeks from now, and they’re going to do a criminal background check within this week… will this show up on my criminal record as of now? or after court..
